Built with Intention
For years, Jeff worked in the corporate world, where most days ended with meetings instead of sawdust. But the work he was always drawn to happened after hours—building furniture, fixing old houses, helping friends, and finding quiet satisfaction in making something better than he found it.
McKatims Built grew out of that lifelong instinct.
As the owner of a 150-year-old farmhouse in Bothell, Jeff has developed a deep appreciation for homes with history. Old houses have a way of teaching you patience. They reward careful work, thoughtful decisions, and respect for the people who built them before you. That same mindset carries into every project, whether it's custom built-ins, a safer set of deck stairs, a chicken coop, or finally tackling the project that's been sitting on your list for years.
Jeff believes the little things matter—the fit of a drawer, the feel of a solid door, the grain of a beautiful piece of wood, and the details most people never notice until they're done right.
McKatims Built is a family business in every sense. While Jeff is the one building, you'll often find his wife Lindzee behind the camera or helping shape the design, and their son Riley is already convinced every project needs a tape measure and a handful of screws.
The goal is simple: build things that last, solve problems thoughtfully, and leave every home a little better than it was before.
