Thoughtful Design, Built In

Good craftsmanship isn’t only about how something is built. It’s also about how it looks, feels, and fits into your home.

Design thinking is part of every McKatims Built project. Whether we’re repairing original trim, adding storage, or building something entirely new, we consider proportion, materials, existing details, and the character of the space around it. When something good already exists, we’d rather work with it than replace it. And when a project calls for something new, we’re happy to look to vintage and architectural salvage for pieces that feel at home in the space.

The goal isn’t simply to make something work. It should feel like it belongs.

For projects that call for more involved design support, we can also help with space planning, material and finish selections, fixtures and hardware, vintage and architectural salvage sourcing, and other details that bring the whole project together. We’ll even help you keep an eye out for the perfect salvage piece.
