A Smarter Entry Closet
Older homes weren’t built with modern mud rooms, but everyday life still needs a place for coats, shoes, backpacks, and cleaning supplies. So we designed a smarter entry closet.
This project transformed a standard coat closet into a hardworking storage space that serves double duty as both an entry closet and a cleaning station. Every shelf, drawer, and organizer was designed around the family’s daily routines, making better use of the existing footprint instead of adding more square footage.
The result is a closet that feels larger, functions better, and makes everyday tasks just a little easier.
Thoughtful Details
Constructed from cabinet-grade birch plywood rather than particle board for long-term durability
Built-in furniture, not a modular system
Custom shelving sized specifically for the items stored there
Full-extension drawers for easy access
Shoe storage designed for boots and other bulky footwear
Custom 3D-printed wall organizers for frequently used accessories
Every inch of available space maximized without sacrificing accessibility
Built around the family’s routines—not an off-the-shelf closet system
Built With Intention
The best storage solutions don’t just hold more—they make everyday life feel simpler.
Rather than forcing a standard closet system into an older home, this project embraced the home’s limitations and designed around them. The result is a space that feels intentional, organized, and easy to use every single day.
Here’s a look at how it came together.
